On July 29th, 2022, the FBI attacked four unamed “unindicted co-conspirators,” pictured left to right: African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) Chairman Omali Yeshitela, APSP AgitProp Director Akilé Anai, African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) Chair Penny Hess and Uhuru Solidarity Movement (USM) Chair Jesse Nevel. On April 18, 2023, indictments were issued by the U.S. Department of Justice against African People’s Socialist Party Chairman Omali Yeshitela, African People’s Solidarity Committee Chair Penny Hess and Uhuru Solidarity Movement Chair Jesse Nevel.
On July 29, 2022, the FBI brutally raided seven offices and homes of the African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement in St. Louis, MO, and St. Petersburg, FL.

On Friday, January 26, 2024 U.S. Magistrate Judge Anthony Porcelli in the federal district court of Tampa, Florida filed an order recommending that District Judge William Jung deny the Uhuru 3’s motion for dismissal of the bogus charges. The case is expected to go to trial on September 3, 2024. We call on all supporters and defenders of free speech rights to attend the courthouse.
