We are unapologetic in our movement for Black Lives and we use this event to center the voices of our children, who are most vulnerable to the systemic violations of civil liberties. We want everyone to feel welcome to support and participate in this movement work to uplift the Black family and our entire community. Not many events center the voices of children to uplift the Black community so we reclaim Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day for this purpose. Our children deserve to be centered and celebrated by our diverse community because when we center the voices of our most marginalized then we are truly doing the work of change agents.”

Campaign calls on everyone to use the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. weekend (Jan. 13-16, 2023) to hold rallies and events at the federal building in your city to denounce the brutal FBI attacks on Chairman Omali Yeshitela and 7 Uhuru Movement offices and homes that took place on July 29, 2022. You can also hold events to educate the community and fundraisers to win much needed resources for the legal defense.Submit your event
Fill out this form with information about your event or action in January. Your event will then be listed here on the Hands Off Uhuru website. The FBI targeted Martin Luther King, Jr.
As many know, the children of Dr. King denounced the FBI’s obsession with King in the years leading up to his slaying in Memphis on April 4, 1968. As part of COINTELPRO Dr. King was subjected to pervasive surveillance, a malicious disinformation campaign and open denunciations by FBI director J. Edgar Hoover which the family believes laid the groundwork for him being the target of an FBI plot to assassinate him.
Let us push back these deadly attacks on Chairman Omali Yeshitela which come in response to his more than 50 years of relentless struggle for the liberation of African people everywhere.
Hands Off Chairman Omali and the Uhuru Movement!
Drop all charges!
