In the wake of the colonial state’s ongoing attacks on the African Liberation Movement, colonized peoples of the world and all those who the U.S. government targets as the “enemy,” the FBI held a press conference on Monday, Oct. 24. 

Media articles promoting this almost laughable and bogus event stated that the spy agency was ready to make indictments in “a serious national security matter” and cited as a reference links to articles about the July 29 raids on the Uhuru Movement.

During the conference U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced charges against China, including alleged “criminal cases” against seven Chinese nationals, two of whom are, without disclosed evidence, allegedly Chinese intelligence agents inside the U.S.—the rest apparently being outside of the U.S.

The FBI claimed the two Chinese nationals were arrested in New Jersey, charged with conspiring to act as illegal agents on behalf of China by using a “purported academic center in that country to seek sensitive information from U.S. academic institutions,” thus criminalizing working relationships between universities in the U.S. and China.

This comes about three months after the July 29 raids by assault-rifle toting FBI agents on seven offices and homes of the African People’s Socialist Party, including Chairman Omali Yeshitela’s home in the most impoverished section of St. Louis. 

The FBI claimed that the raids of the Party properties were justified by an indictment of a Russian national in Russia based on the insulting and absurd  allegation that the Chairman and Party’s more than 50 years of struggle for the liberation of African people is actually being orchestrated by “Russian malign influence.”

The African People’s Socialist Party’s work in the U.S., Africa, Europe and the Caribbean revolves around the goal to liberate Africa and African people who have been forcibly dispersed throughout the world through our kidnapping and enslavement by Europe. For our Party’s entire existence we have fought for reparations to African people. 

The brutality experienced by Chairman Yeshitela with gun sightings pointed at his chest as he came down the stairs, the use of flash bang grenades, drones, powered battering rams and armored vehicles are typical of the COINTELPRO tactics of the 1960s that included assassinations, slander, political prisoners and other efforts targeting the Black Revolution. 

The FBI raids of Mar-a-Lago and on white people tied to the Jan. 6, 2021 coup-attempt at the capitol building were mild in comparison.

Though the October 24, 2022 FBI press conference did not mention the July 29, 2022 raids on the Uhuru Movement, Chairman Omali Yeshitela summed it up as an “indirect assault on the Uhuru Movement that lumps us together with Russia, China and those whites charged with the Jan 6, 2021 assault on the U.S. capitol for allegedly trying to undermine U.S. democracy. The October 24, 2022 press conference prepares the false narrative for an ongoing attack on the Uhuru Movement.”

The Hands Off Uhuru! Hands Off Africa! Committee paid attention to the FBI press conference because it was put forth that the U.S. was making indictments related to the Biden administration’s bogus efforts to “protect U.S. elections from Russia’s malign influence.” 

While there are currently 229 articles of legislation restricting African people’s hard-won voting rights pending in 33 U.S. states, the U.S. colonial government secret political police and compliant media issue these threats against the Uhuru Movement as a means to frighten the people—especially the white population, naming the African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement as a “foreign” force threatening the “democratic rights” of U.S. citizens. 

We stand in solidarity with our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters fighting similar FBI raids and attacks justified by their solidarity work with Cuba, which continues to suffer from the decades long U.S.-initiated economic embargo. 

We stand with our comrades in Occupied Palestine under a longstanding violent siege by the illegitimate white settler-colonial Israeli government—raids often orchestrated by the FBI-connected Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad.
